What are precision turned parts?
Precision turned parts are workpieces made of metal, non-ferrous metal, special materials or plastic that are manufactured by turning on a lathe or turning machine.
Turning differs from milling in that the workpiece, blank or semi-finished product rotates and the tool is firmly clamped.
The rotation allows the tool – the turning tool – to lift a chip from the workpiece. Turning is therefore classified as a machining process.
Originally, only rotationally symmetrical turned parts could be produced by turning. However, computer-controlled CNC lathes now make it possible to produce far more complex CNC turned parts. Driven tools on the CNC lathe in particular make it possible to carry out turning, milling and drilling work in a single operation.
Typical materials and special materials for precision turned parts.
Precision turned parts are usually made from metals, and at TORLOPP GmbH they are often made from special materials. These have properties that make them the material of choice for certain applications. Due to these properties, many special materials are difficult to process and require special knowledge during machining. We have been building up this knowledge since 1977 – put us to the test!
We also manufacture turned parts from plastics and any other machinable material.
We frequently manufacture precision turned parts from titanium, stainless steel, Hastelloy, Kuprodur, niobium, tantalum and almost all plastics.
How precisely do we manufacture precision turned parts?
Precision is not an end in itself, but results from the task at hand. In this respect, we manufacture precision turned parts as precisely as you require. We are happy to support you in achieving the optimum balance between precision, quality and costs for a given task. For example, by selecting alternative materials or production technologies.
We manufacture our precision turned parts as CNC turned parts on CNC lathes, cam-type automatic lathes, semi-automatic lathes and sliding headstock lathes. We process workpieces with diameters of 1 to 250 millimetres and lengths of 1 to 1,500 millimetres in batch sizes ranging from 1 to small series of up to 1,000,000 pieces and more. Our company is certified according to DIN ISO 9001:2015.
We specialize in precision turned parts made from special materials such as titanium, niobium, Kuprodur, Hastelloy and many more. Of course, we also process high-quality steels, non-ferrous metals and other standard materials. We keep many special materials in stock for you to ensure the shortest possible delivery times.
